Job description
Position Overview
This newly established Risk Manager role at Pembroke School involves leading the design, execution, and enhancement of the school's operational risk management framework. The incumbent will provide hands-on guidance and oversight to ensure consistent, compliant risk management aligned with duty of care, legislation, and best practice standards. This is a collaborative role working with school leadership to manage high-risk activities, critical incidents, and support organizational resilience, while encouraging a culture of proactive risk awareness and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the deployment and continuous improvement of the operational risk management framework, including procedures, processes, and systems to identify, assess, monitor, and measure risks according to ISO 31000 standards.
- Develop and maintain policies and documentation to aid in identifying and evaluating new risks, escalating significant risks to the Principal and relevant leadership team members as needed.
- Track legislative updates, standards changes, and emerging risks, evaluating their impact on the School's risk management approach.
- Lead the roll-out of software platforms that enhance management of both strategic and operational risks.
- Implement systems facilitating risk assessments, consent documentation, and medical information management.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Business, Workplace Health & Safety, or Governance.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 31000 and modern risk management methodologies.
- Proven track record in roles involving risk management, compliance, or governance.
- Experience executing risk management frameworks and systems within complex organizational settings.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and communication.
Employment Prerequisites
- A valid Working with Children Check (South Australia) prior to commencement.
- Completion of Plink RRHAN-EC training, including both Masterclass and Fundamentals courses with Protective Practices.
