Risk Analyst

Role Overview

Our client seeks a skilled Risk Analyst to join their risk division, tasked with overseeing and evaluating market and trading risk exposures throughout the organization. This position collaborates extensively with teams from Trading, Finance, and Risk, delivering valuable insights into risk positions, portfolio performance, and market dynamics in a rapid-paced work setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Track and interpret daily trading and market risk exposures.
• Compile frequent risk reports and analyze both portfolio changes and positional variations.
• Examine market statistics, profit and loss fluctuations, sensitivities, and critical risk metrics.
• Assist in monitoring risks related to both physical and financial commodity holdings.
• Conduct exposure, limit, and sensitivity assessments, flagging potential risk issues.
• Collaborate with Trading and other teams to fully comprehend and evaluate risk stances.
• Contribute to the enhancement and refinement of risk reporting mechanisms and operational processes.
• Support risk infrastructure including policy enforcement and governance adherence.
• Perform additional analytical tasks and support initiatives linked to risk management and company performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Academic credentials in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
• Between three to six years' relevant experience in market, commodity, trading, or financial risk domains.
• Background in energy, commodities, trading, or financial markets is a plus.
• Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
• Well-versed in financial markets, commodity markets, and fundamental risk theories.
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL, Python, Power BI or similar data analysis technologies is beneficial.
• Capability to handle extensive datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills enabling effective teamwork across departments.
• Ability to operate autonomously within a fast-moving professional environment.
