Job description

About the Company

Located in Wingfield, South Australia, Adelaide All Fab is a fabrication and engineering firm specializing in delivering practical metal fabrication solutions for industrial and commercial projects. The team services a diverse array of construction, manufacturing, and maintenance operations, emphasizing safety, reliability, and precise workmanship tailored to client specifications and deadlines. Employees are encouraged to apply their technical expertise collaboratively to achieve cost-effective and efficient project outcomes.

Role Overview

This permanent, on-site position requires the safe lifting, relocation, and placement of structural steel, heavy machinery, and fabricated parts utilizing cranes, chains, slings, and rigging gear. Daily duties involve inspection and setup of rigging equipment, assessing load weights, choosing appropriate lifting strategies, and maintaining clear communication with crane operators and ground personnel. The role demands interpreting lift plans and technical drawings, upkeep of tools, and strict compliance with site safety regulations. Collaboration with fabricators, welders, and supervisory staff is vital for successful installation, assembly, and project delivery both onsite and within the workshop.

Key Qualifications

  • Possession of relevant rigging certifications or licenses, whether basic, intermediate, or advanced level, along with proven experience in industrial or construction rigging.
  • Thorough knowledge of load assessments, lifting methodologies, and secure operation of cranes, hoists, shackles, slings, and rigging apparatus.
  • Competency in reading and interpreting technical schematics, lift plans, and operational instructions, supported by strong problem-solving and planning capabilities.
  • A dedicated approach to workplace safety, including following protocols, consistently using personal protective equipment, and participating actively in risk assessments and safety meetings.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with supervisors, equipment operators, and tradespeople under tight deadlines.
  • The physical strength and stamina required for manual handling tasks, working at elevated heights, and performing in both workshop and outdoor conditions.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary; additional credentials such as a high-risk work license, white card, and prior exposure to structural steel or fabrication settings are advantageous.
