Job description
Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
This role involves comprehensive reward analysis including benchmarking salaries using market surveys such as Remchannel, PwC, and Willis Towers Watson, ensuring internal pay equity along with external market competitiveness. Responsibilities extend to supporting job evaluation and grading frameworks, offering data-driven insights on pay positioning, cost implications, and remuneration trends.
The incumbent manages the annual remuneration and benefits schedule covering bonuses, audits, salary increases, REMCO, grading, expatriate arrangements, and other group requests. This includes assisting with salary reviews, bonus process simulations, reward costing, and affordability analyses, as well as calculations and audits for short-term and long-term incentives.
Payroll processing duties require accurate input aligned with payroll calendars, validation of payroll data across salaries, allowances, overtime, and deductions. Collaboration with HR and Finance to reflect employment changes accurately and reconciliation of payroll reports to detect and amend discrepancies prior to finalization is essential. The role also involves ensuring compliance with statutory payroll obligations such as PAYE, UIF, SDL, and maintaining confidentiality and data integrity while supporting payroll audits and resolving related queries.
Maintaining governance and compliance involves adherence to South African labor and tax laws including BCEA and Income Tax Act, supporting pay equity analyses, maintaining reward documentation and audit trails, and assisting regulatory/internal audits related to reward practices.
The role requires development and upkeep of reward dashboards and reports to analyze remuneration trends, benefits, turnover, and overall cost to company. Calculators must be updated promptly to provide insightful data supporting HR Business Partners and leadership decisions. The analyst acts as a key resource for HRBPs on reward inquiries and assists managers with offer benchmarking and pay recommendations.
Candidate Profile
- A degree in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related discipline.
- A post-graduate qualification is mandatory.
- Registration with SARA is advantageous.
- At least five years’ relevant experience in reward, remuneration, or HR analytics.
- Familiarity with salary surveys and job evaluation methods.
- Strong understanding of South African reward and tax legislation.
- Experience with payroll systems, processes, and practices.
- Proficiency in SAP is required.
- Valid South African driver’s license.
