About the Role
Paul Byron Shoes is seeking a dedicated and experienced Retail Store Manager to take ownership of its Thurles location. This full-time permanent position involves leading the store's daily operations, developing a motivated team, and driving sales performance in a supportive environment.
Compensation and Working Conditions
- An annual salary package ranging between €35,000 and €40,000, inclusive of a 10% performance-related Key Performance Indicator (KPI) bonus.
- Additional opportunities to earn sales bonuses.
- A standard 37.5-hour workweek with no requirement for late-night shifts.
- Employment benefits include a staff discount and structured training programs.
- Direct support from the Stores Operations Manager, Human Resources team, and Head Office.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop the store team to enhance individual and collective performance.
- Drive sales initiatives to meet and exceed defined store targets and KPIs.
- Maintain high standards in customer service, merchandising, and overall store presentation.
- Coach employees, manage staff performance, and address any underperformance appropriately.
- Ensure comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and support for new employees.
- Create a positive working environment through effective delegation and clear setting of daily and weekly priorities.
- Manage staff scheduling, including rotas, holiday planning, and attendance monitoring.
- Oversee stock management, including deliveries, stockroom organization, stock availability, and loss prevention.
- Monitor payroll expenditures, labor costs, and other controllable store-related expenses.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain regular communication and collaboration with management and support teams.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in retail store management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop retail teams effectively.
- Strong record of achieving sales goals and performance benchmarks.
- Excellent coaching, people management, and communication skills.
- Solid commercial understanding and familiarity with retail KPIs.
- Confidence in performance management and conducting constructive feedback sessions.
- Outstanding organizational skills including planning and delegation capabilities.
- A proactive leadership style, comfortable leading from the sales floor.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Expertise in merchandising and maintaining store presentation to high standards.
- Knowledge of labor management, budgeting, and cost control practices.
- Competency with retail systems and technology.
- A positive, professional attitude with solution-focused thinking.
- Possession of a full, clean driving license.
- While prior footwear retail experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
