Retail Assistant - Texaco Westport

Role Overview

We are looking to hire full-time Retail & Forecourt Assistants for the Texaco service station within the Mace store on Castlebar Road, Westport. Candidates must be at least 18 years old due to responsible service of alcohol and tobacco regulations.

The primary aim is to exceed customer expectations on every visit by providing high-quality service, maintaining store cleanliness, and supporting the management team. This role demands friendly and efficient customer interaction while upholding all training and company standards. Duties involve serving customers warmly in all store areas, merchandising, cleaning, and ensuring an excellent overall experience.

Customer Care Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, prompt service with exceptional customer care standards.
• Engage customers in a welcoming and effective manner.
• Handle customer complaints courteously, escalating issues to management when needed.

Operational Tasks and Store Presentation

• Calculate sales prices accurately and manage payments according to cash handling procedures.
• Adhere strictly to company policies and protocols.
• Assist customers with packing their purchases.
• Stay informed on current promtions and sales within the store.
• Answer customer inquiries related to products and store features.
• Open and close cash registers as required, including counting cash, balancing till, and making deposits following procedures.
• Maintain tidiness by cleaning shelves, counters, floors (inside and outside), and store areas.
• Ensure Coffee Dock cleanliness and hygiene standards are met, maintaining all related equipment.
• Keep the back store area organized and clean.
• Receive and check stock deliveries consistent with company guidelines.
• Merchandise stock correctly and ensure proper food hygiene storage.
• Update shelf labels as directed.
• Rotate stock effectively to minimize waste.
• Remain vigilant to prevent stock loss and waste.
• Conduct stock takes when instructed by management.
• Follow health and safety practices to protect yourself, team members, and customers.
• Support the Supermac's counter during busy periods.

Food Service Duties

• Prepare food in line with HACCP standards for resale.
• Monitor store temperatures to ensure HACCP compliance.
• Maintain all HACCP documentation according to store policies.
• Manage critical control points to prevent contamination.

Additional Responsibilities and Job Nature

• Perform other duties assigned by the assistant store manager or store manager.

This role involves always prioritizing customer needs, maintaining a clean work environment, working collaboratively with teammates and trainees, and performing well under busy, pressure-filled conditions.
