About the Role

Join Lancashire County Council as a Residential Child Care Worker based in Central Lancashire, covering Chorley, Preston and Lytham. This permanent opportunity offers a salary starting at 28,142 annually, with enhancements for weekend, shift, and sleep-in duties. The position involves working on a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.

Job Overview

In this role, you will provide dedicated care for children and young people aged 11 to 17 who reside within childrens homes due to various circumstances, including trauma or inability to live safely with their families. Responsibilities include living in the home with the children, performing daily household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping, and engaging in one-on-one support to help children manage emotions and behaviors.

You will be supported by an experienced management team committed to your growth, with access to over 50 free training courses and opportunities for funded qualifications up to degree level. A thorough induction program prepares you for the responsibilities ahead, and monthly one-on-one reflective sessions with managers are available for permanent staff.
