Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate across Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Drilling, Production, Facilities, Economics, Data Science, Operations, and external partners to maximize asset value while adhering to high technical, operational, and environmental standards.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Reservoir Engineering Manager with a strong background to oversee reservoir engineering strategies, subsurface evaluations, field development planning, production enhancement, reservoir monitoring, reserves assessment, and technical decision-making for oil, gas, and other subsurface assets. This position provides leadership throughout the reservoir’s lifecycle—from exploration appraisal and development planning to production optimization, enhanced recovery, reserves management, and mature asset strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Craft and execute reservoir engineering strategies aligned with asset goals and corporate business plans.
- Lead comprehensive reservoir engineering assessments covering exploration, appraisal, development, production, and mature fields.
- Analyze reservoir performance by studying fluid dynamics, pressure responses, production patterns, and recovery potential.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, production, drilling, and reservoir engineering datasets effectively.
- Develop, maintain, and quality control reservoir models and simulations for field development and optimization initiatives.
- Define reservoir characterization needs, identify data gaps, determine uncertainty bounds, and set surveillance priorities.
- Conduct detailed material-balance, pressure-transient, well-performance, decline-curve, and reservoir analyses.
- Evaluate crucial reservoir factors including drive mechanisms, fluid contacts, compartmentalization, connectivity, and depletion behavior.
- Generate production forecasts, recovery estimates, reserves evaluations, and multiple development scenarios.
- Lead planning for field development by assessing well locations, counts, completion methods, and production concepts.
- Identify opportunities for infill drilling, workover, recompletions, sidetracks, stimulations, and artificial lift enhancements.
- Optimize overall well and reservoir output through integrated studies involving production and reservoir engineering.
- Evaluate enhanced recovery techniques such as water and gas injection, pressure maintenance, and miscible injections.
- Design reservoir management plans encompassing pressure control, injection strategies, well sequencing, surveillance, and performance optimization.
- Implement reservoir surveillance programs using data from pressure, production, injection, fluid sampling, tracers, and well tests.
- Monitor actual reservoir performance against forecasts, identify discrepancies, evaluate uncertainties, and recommend corrective measures.
- Conduct reservoir performance reviews and propose strategies for production improvement.
- Investigate well interference, communication, conformance, and breakthrough events of water and gas within the reservoir.
- Support design and analysis of well tests, pressure-transient studies, interference tests, and reservoir characterization research.
- Assess PVT data, fluid properties, relative permeability, capillary pressure, and related reservoir fluid parameters.
- Coordinate laboratory investigations ensuring reservoir engineering criteria are integrated into testing.
- Review cores, specialized core analyses, PVT studies, logs, pressure datasets, and production information comprehensively.
- Set assumptions, uncertainty ranges, sensitivity analyses, and probabilistic scenarios to inform reservoir evaluations.
- Lead history matching processes and uncertainty quantification for dynamic reservoir simulation models.
- Translate simulation outcomes into actionable development and operation recommendations.
- Integrate reservoir engineering inputs into annual business plans, budgeting processes, reserves assessments, and long-term development strategies.
- Support reserves/resource estimates consistent with industry technical standards and reporting requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and control of reservoir models, reserves data, production forecasts, and underlying assumptions.
- Collaborate with finance and economics teams to evaluate field economics and support decision making for development and optimization opportunities.
- Prepare comparative technical and economic analyses for various development concepts, recovery strategies, and reservoir management approaches.
- Contribute to investment decisions through robust forecasting and uncertainty analysis.
- Identify and recommend methods to boost recovery, extend asset life, minimize production decay, and elevate asset value.
- Assist drilling and completion planning by providing insights on reservoir pressure, fluid characteristics, productivity, and geomechanical factors.
- Offer reservoir engineering input for well placement, completion designs, stimulation procedures, artificial lift, and production tactics.
- Coordinate with production engineering to enhance well deliverability and overall reservoir output.
- Partner with geosciences teams to refine reservoir characterization and incorporate fresh subsurface information.
- Collaborate with drilling and completion teams to determine optimal well architecture and development sequencing.
- Support facilities planning by forecasting production profiles, fluid volumes, pressures, and injection needs.
- Assess reservoir-related risks including pressure depletion, water handling, gas processing, injection limits, and facility constraints.
- Lead detailed technical reviews of reservoir analyses, development plans, modeling results, forecasts, and core management decisions.
- Establish technical standards, workflows, quality assurance procedures, and governance models for reservoir engineering tasks.
- Manage relationships with reservoir engineering consultants, software vendors, laboratories, and other external service providers.
- Define scopes, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and performance metrics for outsourced technical studies.
- Review and endorse reservoir engineering documentation, models, projections, assessments, and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain databases, simulation models, documentation, assumptions, and a technical knowledge base.
- Advocate for advanced analytics, automation, machine learning, digital twin technologies, and data-driven reservoir optimization solutions.
- Evaluate emerging reservoir technologies and recommend implementation of those that provide clear technical or financial benefits.
- Ensure all reservoir engineering operations meet relevant technical, regulatory, environmental, and corporate compliance standards.
- Develop succession plans, technical training, mentoring, and capability-building initiatives for reservoir engineering staff.
