Key Responsibilities
- Engage in research focused on designing and analyzing efficient AI-for-Science systems using foundation models, including smaller language models, and parameter-efficient adaptation methods like LoRA; applying advanced optimization and deep learning techniques to enable scientific reasoning.
- Create software prototypes that automate research procedures by integrating autonomous discovery pipelines with state-of-the-art deep learning architectures, while managing practical issues such as data privacy and heterogeneous datasets.
- Work collaboratively with AI researchers to translate and validate AI-for-Science models in impactful application areas.
- Publish research findings in premier conferences and journals such as NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, ACM KDD, and IEEE TKDE.
- Contribute to supervising graduate students and actively participate in the research group's interdisciplinary and collaborative initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A PhD or equivalent qualification in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge in machine learning and convex optimization techniques.
- Experience in software development related to machine learning is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency with Python programming and machine learning frameworks, especially PyTorch.
- Independent mindset, excellent analytical skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills to facilitate teamwork.
- Deep expertise relevant to the specific research project domain.
- Proven track record in conducting innovative research and developing novel scientific approaches.
- Demonstrated capacity to formulate hypotheses, design robust experimental plans, and implement new experimental methodologies.
- Ability to foster collaborative research in multidisciplinary teams and monitor project advancements.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including outside regular hours when necessary.
