Job description
Overview
Veritase is hiring a full-time Commodities Research Analyst based in Dubai to provide essential support to our trading and sales divisions by conducting thorough fundamental and quantitative analyses of commodity markets.
Key Duties
- Gather, cleanse, and analyse data regarding production, consumption, inventory levels, trade flows, and pricing for specified commodities.
- Develop and update fundamental balance models, cost curves, and scenario analyses to underpin market perspectives.
- Observe and evaluate macroeconomic trends, policy changes, weather patterns, and geopolitical developments affecting market conditions.
- Produce routine research outputs including market updates, thematic reports, and presentation documents.
- Assist traders and sales teams with bespoke analysis, creating chartbooks, dashboards, and briefing materials for client engagements.
- Contribute to formulating short- and medium-term price forecasts and risk assessment scenarios, emphasizing key market drivers and uncertainties.
- Maintain organised databases, spreadsheets, and code repositories to guarantee the consistency and reliability of research processes.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Between 1 and 3 years of relevant experience in commodities research, macroeconomic or market analysis, risk, or financial analytics; strong internships are also considered.
- Proficient analytical and numerical skills, with high competence in Excel and handling large datasets.
- Experience with programming or analytical tools like Python, R, or SQL is beneficial.
- Good grasp of economic and market theories; knowledge of futures and derivative markets is advantageous.

- Exceptional attention to detail with rigorous data validation and ongoing model upkeep.
- Inquisitive and commercially savvy attitude with a keen interest in commodity markets and macroeconomic developments.
- Effective communication skills, able to convey research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences including traders and sales personnel.
- Strong organisational capabilities and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
