Role Overview

We are seeking a Research Analyst/Associate to focus on polymer price assessment. This role involves compiling, verifying, and analysing pricing data and market developments across the polymer value chain. It requires daily communication with industry participants to enable accurate pricing, insightful market intelligence, and actionable insights for key polymer categories.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and verify daily pricing data for critical polymer products including PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE, LLDPE, PVC, among others.
• Monitor market fluctuations, spot transactions, bids and offers, producer announcements, price updates, as well as import/export activities across domestic and international markets.
• Track demand trends in significant end-use industries such as packaging, FMCG, beverages, textiles, automotive, construction, and consumer goods.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with manufacturers, converters, traders, distributors, processors, importers, exporters, and end-users.
• Grow a network of trusted market contributors throughout India and global polymer marketplaces.
• Identify and onboard new data providers to enhance product-wise and regional coverage.
• Prepare daily price sheets, market summaries, trend analyses, and updates.
• Analyze pricing trends and key demand-supply elements influencing polymer markets.
• Track upstream feedstock influences including crude oil, naphtha, ethylene, propylene, PTA, and MEG.
• Maintain comprehensive databases of price contributors, logs, verification documents, and historical market data.
• Prepare regular price assessments, market reports, analytical articles, presentations, and sector briefs.
• Assist in developing price benchmarks, valuation methodologies, and market commentary.
• Address internal and client queries promptly with accurate, data-supported insights.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong capabilities in research, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Excellent communication, networking skills, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in primary research and acquiring market data directly from participants.
• Good knowledge of market trends, pricing dynamics, and supply-demand factors.
• Ability to transform raw market data into clear, actionable conclusions.
• Excellent report writing and presentation creation abilities.
• Skilled in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and various reporting tools.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple data points, trackers, and deadlines effectively.
• Previous familiarity with polymers, petrochemicals, plastics, commodities, packaging, or market research is desirable.

Preferred Experience

• Between zero to five years relevant experience in polymers, petrochemicals, plastics, packaging, commodities, market research, procurement, sourcing, B2B sales, or trading.
• Entry-level candidates holding relevant educational qualifications with a keen interest in commodity markets and industry intelligence are invited to apply.
• Experience in primary research, liaising with manufacturers, converters, traders, and other market players is an advantage.
• Expertise in collecting, validating, and analyzing pricing information and producing market reports is beneficial.
• Understanding of the polymer value chain, pricing formulae, related feedstock relationships, and market behavior is a plus.

Educational Requirement

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Petrochemicals, or a related discipline is required.
