The position involves creating innovative and conventional repair methodologies, evaluating damage to engine components for repair feasibility, and collaborating closely with engine manufacturers to secure repair approvals promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design repairs for commercial engine parts using both traditional and cutting-edge repair techniques.
  • Assess damage reports from customers and airlines to formulate repair plans and swiftly coordinate approvals with engine manufacturers.
  • Analyze cost-effectiveness of repairing parts versus purchasing new components to deliver economic benefits for airline clients.
  • Develop technical repair data for on-wing and AOG level engine component repairs such as borescope blending, thread chasing, adhesive fills, and composite part touch-ups.
  • Review regulatory documents including service bulletins and airworthiness directives issued by aircraft and engine manufacturers.
  • Generate Substantiation Memo documents and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness as per FAA regulatory guidelines applicable to repair schemes.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally with IPT leads, structural, design, metallurgy, standard practices, and customer technical support teams to assess repair data.
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure product quality meets schedules with first-time acceptance and maximizes customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Between 9 and 14 years of professional experience in repair development engineering.
  • Expertise in reviewing repair procedures before submission to clients.
  • Strong leadership abilities; capable of managing teams effectively under pressure or demanding work environments.
  • Deep understanding of aircraft and aero engine components, including operations and functional details.
  • Proficient knowledge of repair methods such as machining, thermal spray coating/plating, welding, painting, non-destructive testing, and cleaning, along with engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles and compliance with ASME Y14.5 1994 standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders for decision-making.
  • Competent user of MS Office applications.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior team members.

Preferred Experience

Prior work experience with aeronautical engine OEMs such as Rolls-Royce (RR) or General Electric (GE) is advantageous.
