Job description
Overview
We are partnering with a major client in Qatar on a nationwide digital services initiative that consolidates offerings from various government and private sector organizations into one unified citizen-facing mobile application. This app is updated on a strict two-week release cycle, and we require a dedicated Release Manager to take full ownership of this process.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the release schedule covering all stages from finalizing the scope to deployment and post-release stability.
- Lead change approval processes and chair release readiness meetings, making the ultimate go/no-go decision for each cycle.
- Handle submissions to the Apple App Store and Google Play, coordinate phased rollouts, and manage app version control.
- Ensure synchronization between the mobile app and backend services among vendors, integration layers, and involved entities.
- Develop strategies for failure scenarios including rollback plans, hotfixes, and emergency releases.
- Provide detailed reporting on release outcomes and progress to program leadership.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- 6 to 8+ years of experience in release management.
- Proven practical experience managing mobile app releases via Apple App Store and Google Play.
- Background working in large-scale programs involving multiple vendors and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Practical application of ITIL change and release management processes adjusted for a rapid two-week cycle.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Certifications such as ITIL 4, Agile/Scrum, or DevOps are highly desirable, along with experience in government or regulated sectors.
