Registered Technologist

Overview

Lakeridge Health comprises a network that includes five hospitals, a long-term care facility, a surgical center, and over 30 community sites throughout Durham Region. The Registered Technologist works within the Diagnostic Imaging Services program, specifically in the General X-Ray Department at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering and Oshawa locations. This role requires producing high-quality radiographs and computed tomography images, assisting Radiologists during examinations, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The position includes shift work covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations, with flexibility and readiness to respond promptly to emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Generate radiographs and CT images adhering to established procedures for diagnostic examinations requested by medical personnel.
• Assist Radiologists during medical imaging procedures.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout imaging processes.
• Maintain accurate image storage and record keeping following regulatory guidelines.
• Rotate through various radiographic modalities as required.
• Participate in training programs for students and technologists.
• Comply with College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) guidelines and other professional standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of a recognized Medical Radiation Sciences education program.
• Valid registration and licensing with CMRITO.
• Comprehensive knowledge of radiographic, fluoroscopic, and computed tomography techniques and pathology relevant to Diagnostic Imaging.
• Experience operating X-Ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, and related equipment proficiently to provide diagnostic images of high quality.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
• Aptitude for assessing and prioritizing requests to ensure timely patient care.
• Ability to adapt standard operating procedures in urgent and emergency scenarios.
• Willingness and ability to work all shifts on short notice, including being on standby and able to report onsite within 30 minutes.
• Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is preferred.
• Proven satisfactory job performance history.

Conditions of Employment

• Employment terms are governed by the collective agreement with OPSEU Local 348.
• Successful candidates must provide a criminal reference check for the vulnerable sector dated within six months.
• Completion of pre-employment health assessment is required.

Additional Information

The wage range is $38.80 to $52.91 per hour. The role involves working in 8-hour shifts that may cover days, evenings, nights, weekends, and includes an on-call schedule that is subject to change.
