About the Role
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical research and delivering patient-focused therapies across several key healthcare domains. We are seeking an experienced Regional Payments Manager based in Mumbai to oversee the entire investigator and site payment process related to clinical trials. This position involves managing purchase orders, payment calculations, and coordinating payments within a global, virtual team setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training sessions for study teams on payment processes and related support activities.
- Serve as a primary contact between Contract Centralized Services (CCS) colleagues and study teams to resolve complex payment-related issues.
- Analyze study-specific Total Contract Value Calculator (TCVC) and purchase order calculations using CTMS, clinical trial agreements (CTAs) and collaboration with supply chain managers, lead trial managers, and study managers.
- Initiate and communicate payment notifications to investigative sites.
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues raised by sites and study teams.
- Address and fix failed payments related to purchase requisitions as necessary.
- Maintain a strong customer-focused approach to identify and implement effective solutions.
Technology and Tools
- Proficient with clinical and financial management systems, including mCTMS, RAVE, iCertis, and accounts payable platforms.
Leadership and People Management
- Provide training to new CCS team members on both process and technical systems.
- Manage team performance and development within a globally distributed virtual team.
- Foster talent growth to improve team effectiveness.
Collaboration and Communication
- Report directly to the Manager of Payments.
- Partner internally with business groups such as CCS and Global Development.
- Engage externally with clinical investigator sites and commercial suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or clinical research industry.
- A minimum of 4 years' experience specifically within clinical payment processing and associated systems.
- Demonstrated competency and mindset in utilizing artificial intelligence tools responsibly to enhance productivity and decision-making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities with proven problem-solving aptitude.
- Proficiency in PC usage, especially MS Office Suite.
- Innovative, able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Preferred familiarity with healthcare compliance protocols including HIPAA, FCPA, and Safe Harbor guidelines.
- Experience working in virtual teams and previous leadership experience are advantageous.
Additional Details
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
- Willingness to travel approximately 15-20% of the time.
- Work follows established policies across geographies and client groups with oversight from the Payments Manager.
