About the Role
Join a rapidly expanding, privately backed data centre platform with solid investment and ambitious growth strategies across Asia-Pacific. As the Regional APAC HR Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the complete payroll function across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea while supporting broader HR operations, systems, and processes. Reporting to the HR Director, you will operate within a lean, collaborative, and flat organizational structure that values your contributions as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire monthly payroll process in-house for APAC employees, encompassing Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea.
- Review and process payroll inputs such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, allowances, overtime, leave records, reimbursements, and variable pay elements.
- Ensure precise calculation and disbursement of salaries, statutory contributions, taxes, deductions, and other payroll payments.
- Maintain detailed payroll records, perform reconciliations, manage payroll journals, prepare bank files, handle statutory submissions, and maintain audit documentation.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on payroll funding, payments, cost allocation, month-end reporting, and accruals.
- Prepare statutory filings, tax paperwork, and year-end payroll reports in line with local regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll rules, tax laws, social security, and employment legislation in relevant countries.
- Address employee payroll inquiries accurately and promptly.
- Implement strong payroll controls, safeguard data privacy, manage payroll calendars, and document payroll procedures.
- Support employee lifecycle events including onboarding, internal transfers, data changes, and offboarding processes.
- Maintain accurate employee data across HRIS, payroll platforms, and personnel files.
- Assist with HR reporting, benefits management, process improvements, HRIS upgrades, and other regional HR initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- 6 to 8 years of comprehensive payroll experience with responsibility for end-to-end, in-house payroll execution.
- Experience managing payroll across multiple APAC regions; proficiency in Southeast Asian markets is mandatory, with additional exposure to Japan and/or Korea preferred.
- In-depth understanding of payroll calculations, statutory contributions, taxation, deductions, payroll accounting practices, reconciliations, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with Finance on payroll financing, reporting, journal entries, and accruals.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with HRIS and payroll software.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, trustworthy, and capable of independently meeting critical payroll deadlines.
- Adaptable to a dynamic, fast-moving environment with minimal structural hierarchy.
