The Real Estate Litigation department at Freeths is recognized as a Top Tier and Top Ranked team. With over 20 specialized real estate litigation lawyers working across 12 offices, the Bristol branch is led by Daniel Cuthbert, a highly esteemed lawyer acknowledged in Chambers and Partners 2025. Daniel is a preeminent expert in cases related to the Telecommunications Code, retail, development, and public sector property law. He is supported by David Shakesby and David Quinn, both experts in property disputes with focuses including leasehold enfranchisement, complex contractual disagreements, and highways issues.
The team advises a varied client base including public bodies, corporate occupiers, investors, landlords, and developers on numerous property-related disputes. Areas of expertise encompass telecommunications, energy networks, disputed break clause matters, rights of light, covenant breaches, misrepresentation and contract breaches, frustration, option disputes, and comprehensive commercial landlord and tenant issues.
