About the Role
Become part of a pioneering team dedicated to advancing medical device technology at Hoop Medical, where innovations in medical balloons are transforming healthcare globally. As an R&D / Mechanical Engineer, you will blend intellectual creativity with hands-on craftsmanship to contribute to life-saving devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, enhance, and construct innovative manufacturing and testing processes, machinery, and equipment for high-performance medical balloon components.
- Lead projects from conceptual phases through commissioning of fully operational systems.
- Operate within cleanroom and ISO-13485 certified manufacturing environments, maintaining rigorous quality standards.
- Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks or Onshape), CAM, CNC machining, and 3D printing technology for machinery and equipment fabrication.
- Assist in the design and development of new medical devices through collaboration within design-services projects.
- Liaise with customers via video communication and email correspondence.
- Prepare concise engineering reports.
- Work closely with the R&D team to develop innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- At least three years of practical experience in engineering, manufacturing, or research and development roles.
- Proven manual skills demonstrated through personal projects such as building motorbikes, furniture, electronics, or other crafted items.
- Meticulous attention to detail coupled with a dedication to quality excellence and continuous process improvement.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Proactive and action-oriented approach, demonstrating a strong work ethic to accomplish objectives.
- Familiarity or enthusiasm for CAD, CAM, CNC machining, 3D printing, polymer processing, and medical device technologies.
Additional Advantages
- Experience within medical device sectors or regulated industries like aerospace or defense.
- Practical hands-on machining or fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of implementing engineering practices within ISO-13485 certified manufacturing or quality management systems.
