Job description
Overview
We invite applications for a motivated and qualified radiographer to join our friendly, dedicated team at Barts Health NHS Trust, London. This Band 5 radiographer role is located at The Royal London Hospital in east London, a historic and vibrant area. The Royal London Hospital serves as a major trauma and stroke center and hosts the London Air Ambulance service, as well as one of the UK’s largest children’s hospitals. Mile End Hospital complements this with its community diagnostic and early diagnosis services, offering timely imaging for local residents. Both imaging departments are equipped with cutting-edge technology, and staff experience rotation across diverse modalities and specialties.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the multidisciplinary team to support the effective operation of the imaging department. Responsibilities include performing a broad range of X-ray examinations to a high standard, rotating through emergency department and general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and theatre areas, and contributing to a continuous, 24/7 service. The role also involves supervising assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students, apprentices, and visitors, facilitating patient flow especially for emergency and inpatient imaging to ensure same-day service. Maintaining professionalism in line with HCPC standards and fostering positive working relationships characterized by trust and open communication are essential.
Professional Development and Culture
As a teaching hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust prioritizes career growth through mentorship opportunities, advanced roles like radiographer reporting and line insertions in interventional radiology, and sonography training and advanced clinical practice. The Trust aims to offer excellent patient safety and experience, fostering an inclusive environment that embraces diversity and embodies WeCare values.
