About Xanadu
Xanadu is dedicated to creating quantum computers that are accessible and practical for everyone. The team consists of learners, innovators, collaborators, researchers, and problem solvers striving toward groundbreaking technology that could solve some of the world's biggest problems and fundamentally transform industries.
Role Overview
As a quantum compilation scientist within Xanadu’s software and algorithms team, you will contribute to designing and implementing advanced quantum algorithms and software for fault-tolerant quantum computers with millions of physical qubits. Your work will involve architecting novel software for quantum compilation, enhancing compilation passes, reducing quantum algorithm resource costs, innovating intellectual property, and publishing scientific findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement state-of-the-art compilation methods within the PennyLane+Catalyst frameworks to minimize resource consumption in important quantum algorithms.
- Enhance quantum software pipelines for better performance and address key scalability and bottleneck issues during compilation of extensive algorithms.
- Develop compilation strategies specifically targeting fault-tolerant quantum computing with sophisticated error correction mechanisms.
- Create novel compilation techniques to support dynamic quantum circuits and algorithms with complex control flows.
- Keep abreast of the latest research literature in quantum compilation and provide expert guidance to the team.
- Invent cutting-edge compilation methods that significantly advance the field.
- Translate new scientific discoveries into optimized production-quality software.
- Lead multidisciplinary projects involving researchers, engineers, and product managers to deliver impactful solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related domains.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
- Deep knowledge of exact and approximate unitary synthesis techniques.
- Skilled in hardware-level quantum compilation methodologies.
- Advanced mathematical understanding focused on linear algebra and group theory.
- Experience with traditional compiler technologies and intermediate coding representations.
- Proven research achievements in quantum compilation as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed venues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams and conduct independent research when necessary.
- Strong communication skills for technical concepts.
- Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Experience
- In-depth expertise in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Experience with quantum algorithms particularly focused on quantum chemistry or quantum machine learning.
- Knowledge in compiling circuits with dynamic behavior and control flow.
- Familiarity with JAX, MLIR, and LLVM compiler infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in measurement-based quantum computation.
- Successful history of converting research outcomes into production-grade software.
Compensation and Culture
The role offers a base salary dependent on experience and location: CAD 100,000 to 140,000 for intermediate-level candidates and CAD 150,000 to 190,000 for senior positions. Equity and benefits are also part of the compensation package.
