About eleQtron

eleQtron specializes in developing and operating quantum computers using trapped-ion technology. Their method integrates laser techniques for cooling, initialization, and readout with engineered magnetic-field gradient coupling (MAGIC) and microwave control to implement universal quantum gate sets. This is combined with advanced quantum control methods and specialized firmware to operate within a high-fidelity regime, crucial for maintaining error rates below the threshold required for quantum error correction (QEC).

Position Overview

The company aims to achieve fault-tolerant quantum computing by integrating high-precision quantum hardware with physics-driven modeling, hardware-software co-design, and sophisticated characterization and benchmarking methods. Numerical simulations are used to accurately assess system performance and optimize QEC strategies along with hardware requirements. To advance this mission, eleQtron is expanding its Foundations & Concepts team and seeks a Quantum Error Correction Scientist to establish and enhance their strategic QEC initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Create simulation and benchmarking tools tailored for realistic fault-tolerance assessments rooted in hardware-based noise models.
  • Evaluate logical error rates, decoder approaches, resource utilization, and scalability of quantum error-correction frameworks.
  • Work collaboratively with system operators, architects, and application scientists to bridge hardware characterization with logical performance evaluations.
  • Participate in initial demonstrations of logical quantum computations and help build eleQtron’s emerging fault-tolerance capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with distinguished thesis or PhD in Physics, Quantum Information, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong expertise in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing, including experience with stabilizer formalisms, decoder design, or practical noise modeling.
  • Proficient in performing numerical simulations and analytical performance modeling.
  • Capable of thriving in a diverse, international team working at the intersection of theory, software, and hardware.
  • Fluent English communication skills are mandatory.
