Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and skilled Quantity Surveyor with expertise in cost estimation primarily for mechanical and electrical engineering projects, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project budgets, supporting cost planning, and providing crucial insights to ensure financial control throughout project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for M&E systems covering HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection installations.
  • Support the preparation and development of project costing plans.
  • Assist in creating and releasing tenders related to M&E scope of work.
  • Review incoming bids, evaluate them against cost, quality, and compliance criteria, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Analyze M&E design documents and specifications to find savings opportunities without sacrificing quality standards.
  • Provide assistance in contract administration for M&E related activities.
  • Perform site measurements to confirm quantities and prepare interim valuations aligned with progress payments.
  • Manage and evaluate variations and change orders by assessing cost impacts and providing justifications.
  • Identify risks specific to M&E works and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth integration of M&E systems in overall project delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Holds a Degree, Diploma, Specialist Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, M&E Engineering, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Possesses a minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, focusing on construction projects, particularly M&E works.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation practices preferred.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills enabling collaboration across various functions.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to team efforts.
