Key Responsibilities

• Manage project cost tracking from purchase orders through supplier claims, validation, payments, and client recoveries.
• Keep accurate and updated cost trackers using Excel, outlining committed, incurred, forecasted, and actual expenses.
• Monitor project costs versus budgets, purchase orders, variations, and client agreements.
• Identify and escalate cost variances, liabilities, and commercial risks promptly.
• Collaborate with operations to capture all completed engineering and construction work commercially.
• Validate supplier and subcontractor payment claims thoroughly using appropriate evidence such as timesheets, drawings, photographs, permits, and contracts.
• Detect and resolve duplicate, unsupported, or incorrect claims in partnership with operations and suppliers.
• Maintain governance and audit trails for supplier payment processes.
• Support preparation and submission of client Applications for Payment, ensuring claimed works comply with contracts and payment milestones.
• Reconcile supplier claims with client applications to avoid revenue leakage.
• Engage with project teams to align commercial tracking with actual deployment progress, challenge incomplete or inconsistent data, and verify work-in-progress reporting.
• Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, Power BI, internal workforce management systems, and purchase order management to handle data, reporting, and commercial controls effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management relevant to the role.
• Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying, Commercial, or Cost Management position.
• Expertise in managing and validating supplier payment claims against contracts, purchase orders, and specifications.
• Strong collaboration experience working alongside operations and project teams.
• Advanced Excel skills for building and managing cost tracking and reconciliation spreadsheets.
• Ability to work confidently with project progress and financial data.
• Excellent commercial awareness and detail orientation.
• Capable of challenging costs professionally and constructively to uphold governance and financial controls.

Preferred Experience

• Background in telecommunications, fibre optics, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure, or network deployment projects.
• Experience with ArcGIS or other GIS platforms.
• Familiarity with Power BI for commercial and project reporting.
• Handling large-scale deployment programs and managing multiple suppliers across distributed sites.
• Understanding of construction, engineering, or telecom deployment methods.
• Experience with client Applications for Payment, revenue recovery, variations, change control, forecasting, and accruals.

Successful performance means maintaining a comprehensive and trustworthy commercial overview of all projects. This includes traceability from operational delivery through supplier claims, purchase orders, validation, payments, client applications, and received payments. The role is essential for ensuring accurate payments, protecting project margin, improving cash flow, preventing commercial leakage, and enhancing financial governance across operations.

Educational Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, or related fields is preferred.
