Job description

About the Role

Join one of Australia's most innovative independent insights agencies as the leading quantitative research expert, integrating cultural insight, behavioral science, qualitative, quantitative, and AI to interpret people and address complex brand challenges.

Based in Sydney, as the Senior Quantitative Research Director, you'll collaborate closely with the Managing Director to develop the service offering, expand the team, and ensure quantitative insights are central to strategic decision-making.

Why Choose This Agency?

  • Independently and locally owned, enabling swift movement of great ideas without global bureaucracy.
  • Flexible methodology: Every project begins by selecting the best approaches to reveal authentic insights, combining expressed opinions, behaviors, and cultural contexts.
  • Behavioral science is foundational, with quantitative approaches complemented by implicit techniques, ethnography, cultural analysis, and proprietary AI tools to narrate comprehensive human stories.
  • Collaborate with major clients across sectors like retail, FMCG, financial services, sports, arts, culture, tourism, and government, focusing on bespoke strategic projects rather than off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Committed to purpose: B-Corp certified, carbon neutral, and active in reconciliation, inclusiveness, and social impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the quantitative research offering, serving as the primary quant expert for both clients and team.
  • Work in partnership with the Sydney Managing Director to engage with clients, craft proposals, and secure new business opportunities.
  • Develop and oversee intricate studies including brand, customer experience, communications, segmentation, market development, audience profiling, pricing, and foundational usage & attitudes research.
  • Manage and mentor a growing team, currently with two direct reports and plans to expand.
  • Remain engaged in execution, from study design and data analysis to delivering compelling narratives.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven senior leadership in quantitative research within strategic or custom research agencies at the director level.
  • In-depth expertise in advanced methodologies such as segmentation, pricing, and driver modeling, with the aptitude to translate findings into actionable commercial strategies.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, thriving on complex and ambiguous briefs to develop novel solutions.
  • Collaborative and integrated approach, energized by working alongside qualitative, cultural, and behavioral science professionals.
  • Demonstrated success in building, leading, and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Strong client-facing skills, business acumen, and experience growing research practices.

Agency Culture and Benefits

Experience an ego-free, people-first environment with genuine flexibility, ample leave, and wellness support. The agency invests generously in professional development and fosters a supportive team atmosphere.
