About ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil is a leading global energy and chemical corporation committed to pioneering energy innovations that enhance modern life while lowering emissions. The company's diverse workforce drives success in upstream, product solutions, and low carbon sectors by delivering strategic solutions across energy, chemicals, lubricants, and low-emissions technologies. We welcome motivated individuals to join us in developing sustainable solutions that advance quality of life and address evolving societal needs.
Role Overview
As a Quantitative Analyst on our high-performing front office Valuation and Structuring team, you will support LNG trading, portfolio optimization, and complex LNG transactions. Your primary responsibility is to offer transparent, independent, and commercially meaningful valuation expertise, emphasizing modeling and pricing embedded physical and financial optionality within our expanding LNG portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver fair valuations and independent risk analyses for LNG deals including DES/FOB cargoes, storage and reload options, destination flexibility, shipping economics, and structured arrangements, quantifying optionalities arising from logistics, contracts, volume, and markets.
- Assist traders and originators in structuring deals by optimizing cargoes, setting destination and exercise rules, indexing pricing (such as JKM, TTF, Henry Hub, oil-linked), exposure mapping, sensitivity analysis, and explaining key optionality value factors.
- Develop valuation templates and analytics tools to model LNG portfolios including cargo scheduling, shipping optimization, regasification capacity restrictions, and cross-basin arbitrage, utilizing probabilistic, scenario-based, and optimization methods.
- Provide valuation and optionality insights for major global corporate projects including long-term LNG supply agreements, Atlantic and Pacific portfolio optimizations, and integration with downstream gas and power markets.
- Advise on hedging techniques for complex LNG risks spanning global gas hubs (JKM, TTF, Henry Hub) and freight markets, distinguishing hedgeable and residual risk components driven by basis, logistics, and timing optionality.
- Perform back testing, validate assumptions, conduct parameter research, and calibrate illiquid LNG price curves, volatility structures, freight dynamics, and cross-basin correlation frameworks.
- Collaborate with quant modeling, technology, and data teams to guarantee robust model deployment, integrate valuation tools into front office trading systems, and support cargo decision and portfolio optimization workflows.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Robust quantitative expertise, preferably holding an MSc or PhD, with hands-on front office LNG, gas, or commodities valuation, structuring, or optimization experience.
- Deep understanding of LNG valuation methods, cargo optimization, shipping and destination optionality, coupled with strong skills in option pricing and curve/volatility modeling.
- Proficient in advanced Python programming for building pricing tools, optimization routines, and handling scalable portfolio analytics.
- Effective communicator capable of clearly explaining complex valuation, logistical, and optionality concepts to traders and commercial teams.
- Experience in calibrating parameters for illiquid markets and conducting back tests within LNG and gas optionality frameworks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of global LNG markets, particularly the dynamics of Atlantic and Pacific basins, shipping constraints, regas infrastructure, contractual structures, and pricing across JKM, TTF, and Henry Hub.
- Strong familiarity with Asia Pacific LNG markets, recognizing Singapore's role as a pivotal regional trading hub and understanding cross-basin arbitrage flows.
- Meticulous attention to detail, disciplined documentation practices, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
