About the Company
SPAL Automotive Technology India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPAL Automotive Italy, has been serving the Indian market since 2006 by manufacturing axial fans, centrifugal blowers, and related accessories. Located in Chakan near Pune, the facility delivers customized cooling systems and components tailored for OEM and aftermarket applications. The production capacity has expanded from 200,000 to 700,000 units per year, including design and development services aligned with customer specifications.
Role Overview
The Quality Engineer specializing in InProcess Quality for assembly and molding is tasked with maintaining product and process quality during manufacturing stages. Key responsibilities include verifying process setups, defect identification, documentation oversight, and supporting initiatives geared towards zero-defect delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute in-process inspections aligned with Control Plans and Work Instructions.
- Validate setup approvals prior to production commencement, including first-off, patrolling, and last-off checks.
- Carry out Statistical Process Control (SPC) monitoring on critical parameters as defined by the Control Plan.
- Perform layout inspections checking major, minor, and critical dimensions against engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Conduct daily verification of poka-yoke devices to ensure error-proofing effectiveness.
- Track daily in-process rejections, scrap, and rework data.
- Analyze non-compliance instances and confirm root causes.
- Implement containment actions when necessary.
- Issue Quality Alerts (QAlert) for internal or customer-related quality issues and communicate with relevant teams.
- Ensure operator compliance with Control Plans and Work Instructions through awareness programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- B.Tech or B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with in-process quality assurance, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T notation and dimensional tolerances.
- Basic knowledge of molding processes, defect identification, inspection parameters.
- Understanding of poka-yoke systems and setup approval procedures.
- Skilled in using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers and micrometers.
- Proficient in quality control methodologies including 5 Why analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Good communication, documentation, and analytical capabilities.
- Basic comprehension of IATF 16949 standards and quality management systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Motivation to learn new methods and embrace emerging technologies.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD software.
- Familiarity with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
