Quality Control Technician 3

Role Overview and Key Duties

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for interpreting and adhering to work instructions, specifications, and SOPs. They will verify color accuracy, ensure correct separations, and validate that reproduction matches the supplied printer specifications. The candidate will check fundamental job elements such as mark positions, including centers, corner trims, screen scales, punch marks, job names, color identifiers, and any applicable job data or labels.

They must ensure accuracy of deliverables like PDFs, TIFFs, stepped LEN files, as well as FTP or CD uploads. Measuring jobs from trim to trim for size accuracy and distortion detection is mandatory. Completion of checklists without omissions and flagging deviations or errors to supervisors are important responsibilities.

Additional duties include completing assigned tasks via MySGS, actively participating in process improvement and production meetings to positively impact business operations, and maintaining a clean work environment according to company clean desk policies. Flexibility to substitute for team members is required. Supporting documentation and quality program compliance is essential, along with mentoring less experienced QC operators.

Skills and Competencies Required

• Proficiency with various graphic design and layout software on both Mac and PC platforms.
• Good knowledge of digital file types such as PDF, TIFF, and EPS across operating systems.
• Basic color management understanding and ability to recognize digital formats.
• Capability to output digital files to diverse output devices, and a commitment to ongoing software skill development.
• Comprehensive understanding of print processes and inter-color interactions.
• Strong organizational skills, alongside effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Self-driven, able to manage multiple priorities independently with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
