Quality Control Chemist - Salt Plant

About the Position

We seek a Quality Control Chemist to join our Salt Plant's Quality Control laboratory team in Gujarat. The role involves testing raw and finished salt products, ensuring consistent product standards, maintaining detailed laboratory documentation, and complying with quality norms to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical and physical analyses on raw salt, brine, intermediate and finished salt products.
• Analyze key quality parameters including sodium chloride purity, moisture content, insoluble matter, calcium, magnesium, sulfate, pH, conductivity, and others relevant to product quality.
• Collect production samples systematically and maintain comprehensive sampling records.
• Operate and upkeep laboratory equipment including pH and conductivity meters, moisture analyzers, weighing scales, titration apparatus, and other analytical instruments.
• Prepare and standardize chemical reagents and indicators required for laboratory testing.
• Maintain daily laboratory test reports, quality control records, batch records, and Certificates of Analysis.
• Ensure finished products adhere to required customer and company quality specifications.
• Promptly report any out-of-specification results to Production or Quality Assurance teams.
• Assist in diagnosing quality issues and support corrective and preventive measures.
• Follow all laboratory standard operating procedures, safety protocols, chemical handling standards, and personal protective equipment use.
• Perform routine calibration, validation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and good housekeeping in the laboratory environment.
• Manage appropriate storage, labeling, and handling of chemicals and test samples.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry preferred; Master's in Chemistry is an advantage.
• Diploma holders in Chemistry or Chemical Laboratory science may be considered as per company criteria.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in quality control laboratories within salt manufacturing, chemical, mineral, or related production environments is preferred.
• Prior experience with salt analysis, wet chemical testing, and laboratory procedures is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong command of titration and wet chemical analysis methods.
• Familiarity with operating laboratory testing equipment and procedures.
• Competent in accurate sampling techniques and chemical analysis.
• Understanding quality control processes and documentation requirements.
• Basic proficiency in MS Excel and report preparation.
• Knowledge and application of SOPs, safety regulations, and chemical handling practices.
• Strong observation, analytical acumen, and detail orientation.
• Ability to maintain precise laboratory records and documentation.
• Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.

Compensation

The monthly gross salary ranges between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000.
