Role Overview
The QAQC Civil Engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality assurance and control in fit-out and construction projects, working under general supervision but progressively operating with more independence. The role involves applying civil engineering techniques and standards to verify compliance throughout project phases and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to uphold high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough quality assurance and control activities on fit-out projects, gradually increasing autonomy depending on experience and project needs.
- Assess, select, and apply appropriate civil engineering methods and criteria to conform to construction and design requirements for fit-out elements such as structural components, mechanical systems, and attraction-specific installations.
- Exercise professional judgment in evaluating details like finishes, joinery, themed features, mock-ups, fabrication quality, steelwork, anchors, and embedded items relative to engineering regulations.
- Perform detailed inspections and walk-throughs of installed fit-out commodities and structural elements to ensure compliance with specifications and contractual obligations.
- Execute quantity surveys and material tracking to monitor fit-out progress and manage costs effectively during all project stages.
- Document inspection results, identify non-conformances, recommend corrective measures, and prepare comprehensive quality reports for project teams, designers, and third-party inspectors.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and design teams to resolve quality issues and guarantee prompt correction of defects and non-conformities.
- Verify testing and certification processes for structural and safety installations as well as attraction-specific components, ensuring adherence to codes and standards.
- Manage fit-out readiness procedures and compile necessary technical documentation for third-party and regulatory inspections and approvals.
- Offer technical oversight and mentorship to drafters, technicians, surveyors, and junior QAQC staff regarding civil engineering standards and project expectations.
- Track schedules and quality milestones to maintain adherence to timelines and quality requirements throughout fit-out activities.
- Maintain detailed quality records, including photographic and as-built documentation, for project closeout and warranty purposes.
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in quality assurance or quality control within construction, fit-out, or attraction installation projects.
- Proven ability to apply civil engineering procedures and construction specifications accurately.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and relevant standards for structural and attraction-specific installations.
- Extensive experience conducting inspections and quality evaluations on complex construction tasks.
- Strong skills in preparing technical quality documentation, reports, and managing non-conformance records.
- Effective coordination abilities with contractors, consultants, design teams, and independent inspectors.
- Experience with quantity surveying, material tracking, and cost management documentation.
- Advanced technical writing capabilities for as-built, photographic, and official quality records.
- Minimum of 5 years supervising or mentoring junior QAQC personnel and related technical staff.
- Familiarity with project scheduling software and quality management systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of testing, certification, and regulatory approval procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Experience in themed attractions, amusement parks, or hospitality fit-out projects is advantageous.
- Background in third-party ride inspection and regulatory compliance processes.
- Proficiency with CAD applications and project management platforms.
- Experience handling large-scale, multi-phase construction projects.
