They are seeking a mid-level QA Engineer to take ownership of quality assurance for Quotesurance, an insurance quoting platform. This role is hands-on, blending manual testing responsibilities with the development and maintenance of automated testing. It offers an excellent opportunity for someone eager to establish a QA function from scratch within a startup setting.

Key Accountabilities

• Take full responsibility for QA across both the web interface and API layers of Quotesurance.
• Develop and carry out manual test plans for feature releases and new functionality.
• Create and sustain automated test suites encompassing UI, API, and regression testing.
• Detect, document thoroughly, and monitor defects until resolution.
• Test system integrations involving third-party vendors and insurance carriers.
• Establish QA procedures, standards, and workflows from the ground up.
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure release readiness.
• Engage in sprint planning sessions including providing estimates for QA work.
• Set up and maintain continuous integration and deployment test pipelines alongside engineers.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Over three years of professional QA experience encompassing both manual and automated testing.
• Experience in designing test automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or comparable solutions.
• Strong proficiency in API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with bug tracking and test management software, preferably Jira.
• Ability to independently oversee QA processes end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript is required.
• Knowledge of BDD testing frameworks like Cucumber or Gherkin.
• Competency in writing SQL queries to validate database and data integrity.
• Basic experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and implementation of CI/CD pipelines.
• Startup mentality: adaptable, self-motivated, and comfortable with uncertain environments.
• Strong skills in written communication for creating detailed test cases and documenting bugs.
• Experience testing AI/LLM-driven functionalities or conducting performance and load testing is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Background in insurance or financial technology sectors is a plus but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and proactive, can-do attitude.
