The role is highly visible and business-facing, with responsibilities spanning research, trading, and portfolio management systems. The technology you build will have a direct effect on investment outcomes, workflow efficiency, and trading execution.

Key responsibilities

  • Create, enhance, and support Python applications used across trading, research, and portfolio management functions.
  • Develop custom analytics, reporting, and visualisation solutions in partnership with investment teams.
  • Design and improve data pipelines for very large financial datasets.
  • Automate complex processes to streamline research and trading operations.
  • Work day to day with Portfolio Managers, Quants, and Analysts to deliver practical, high-value technical solutions.

Why this role stands out

This is a front-office role that provides direct exposure to live investment activity and decision-making. You will contribute to technology that has a measurable impact on research quality, portfolio construction, and trading performance.

You will join a collaborative, low-ego team of skilled engineers, quants, and investment professionals, and have real ownership over important projects using modern technology and large-scale data.

The position offers a highly competitive compensation package with performance-related bonuses and strong long-term growth potential.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another quantitative subject.
  • Proven Python engineering experience in high-performance, data-heavy, or distributed environments.
  • Solid software engineering foundations, including system design and writing maintainable code.
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Confidence communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Preferred background

  • Exposure to financial markets, trading platforms, or quantitative research settings.
  • Experience with large-scale data engineering and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with equities, fixed income, derivatives, or other alternative asset classes.
