About the Role

As a software engineer, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining services and applications that satisfy production criteria while ensuring long-term scalability and uptime. Key tasks include building RESTful APIs, managing relational and NoSQL databases, and working with systems on Linux and UNIX platforms. Proficiency in Python is especially important along with experience in other scripting or programming languages. You will engage in agile development methodologies and partner with peers through design dialogues, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation. This role may have multiple vacancies and involves cross-team and cross-location cooperation.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, accompanied by four to six years of relevant professional experience. Essential skills include scripting languages, primarily Python; SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra; and UNIX-like systems focusing on Linux. Proven ability in crafting and implementing RESTful APIs, along with knowledge of coding best practices such as unit testing, peer reviews, and comprehensive documentation, is required. Familiarity with agile workflows and experience in designing, developing, and testing software for performance, scalability, and availability are also necessary. Strong communication abilities both written and verbal are important, as is the capacity to derive durable solutions addressing diverse production needs spanning multiple teams and sites.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of two years' experience in the computer animation sector and knowledge of Scala, Java, or Erlang. Experience with concurrency frameworks like Akka or RxJava is a plus. Additional database experience (PostgreSQL, CouchDB, Riak, Elasticsearch, Solr) and familiarity with messaging protocols such as AMQP or ZeroMQ are advantageous. Candidates with skills in building end-user web applications using JavaScript MVC frameworks or dealing with cloud systems like OpenShift and OpenStack are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
