Job Overview
This role entails developing well-defined backend functionalities, including endpoints, services, database interactions, and automated tests. Candidates will evolve their skills on a technology-intensive platform while contributing effectively to delivering backend solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop backend features such as reference data management, configuration interfaces, search and lookup services, and administrative tools.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs following established standards for schemas, validation processes, and error management.
- Create, optimize, and maintain SQL queries associated with backend endpoints.
- Manage database interactions using ORM techniques, overseeing session and transaction lifecycles.
- Construct loaders and validation mechanisms for straightforward data feeds.
- Author automated tests ensuring code robustness and quality.
- Develop operational scripts for tasks like data reconciliation, backfilling, and test data generation.
- Diagnose and resolve defects within assigned code areas by reproducing issues, isolating causes, proposing fixes, and verifying solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Between one and five years of professional Python usage focused on backend development.
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL and SQL development, including a solid understanding of transaction integrity guarantees.
- Comprehensive knowledge of REST API principles and practical experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Experience with ORM systems, ideally SQLAlchemy, with some awareness of asynchronous Python programming.
- Familiarity with Git workflows, including code review best practices, and strong habits of automated testing.
- Capability to analyze and work within unfamiliar codebases guided by specifications.
- Desirable skills include typed Python, schema validation techniques, and exposure to message queues or scheduled job systems.
