Purchase Engineer

Job Overview

Chem Seals Engineering is seeking a Purchase Engineer with hands-on experience in procuring raw materials such as rods and pipes, ideally within metallurgical contexts. The candidate must possess strong technical understanding relevant to procurement activities.

Key Duties

• Identify and assess suppliers for mechanical parts, equipment, and related services.
• Request quotations, negotiate pricing, and conclude purchase agreements and contracts.
• Evaluate technical specifications to confirm materials satisfy engineering standards.
• Maintain comprehensive records tracking purchases, pricing data, and vendor performance metrics.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to synchronize procurement with project schedules.
• Monitor inventory levels and trigger procurement processes to prevent shortages and delays.
• Ensure punctual receipt of materials by following up with suppliers as necessary.
• Conduct market research to spot trends, analyze pricing, and explore alternative sourcing options.
• Adhere to organizational policies and applicable industry regulations.
• Contribute to cost-saving measures and enhance procurement processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an allied discipline.
• At least 1 year of experience in purchasing roles, ideally within manufacturing or engineering sectors.
• Familiarity with mechanical components, machinery, and industrial hardware.
• Strong skills in negotiation and vendor relationship management.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in team settings.
