Public Area Attendant

Role Overview

Join InterContinental Abu Dhabi as a Public Area Attendant and contribute to exceptional guest experiences through meticulous attention to cleanliness and presentation in all shared spaces. This position is part of the Housekeeping team, committed to maintaining the hotel’s high standards and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Daily Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all assigned public spaces in line with InterContinental and hotel-specific standards.
• Keep the lobby, corridors, elevators, stairwells, guest restrooms, entrances, and other shared areas tidy and visually appealing throughout the day.
• Perform tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, and cleaning furniture, fixtures, glass, and floors as needed.
• Regularly inspect and replenish guest restrooms to ensure hygiene and proper presentation.
• Respond quickly to spills, cleaning requests, and situations impacting guest safety or comfort.
• Prioritize cleaning of high-touch areas according to established hygiene protocols.
• Organize and maintain housekeeping equipment, trolleys, storage spaces, and cleaning supplies efficiently.
• Utilize cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals correctly and safely per hotel procedures.
• Report any maintenance problems, damages, or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
• Manage lost and found items according to organizational guidelines.
• Assist guests courteously with general inquiries and requests while representing the hotel professionally.
• Collaborate closely with departments such as Housekeeping, Front Office, Engineering, and Security to uphold hotel standards.
• Support special event setups and public area cleaning when necessary.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, hygiene, security, and environmental policies.
• Use hotel resources responsibly to minimize unnecessary waste.
• Maintain professional grooming and appearance standards consistently.
• Exemplify IHG’s values through positive, respectful interactions with guests and team members.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in roles like Public Area Attendant, Housekeeping Attendant, or Cleaner, preferably within hotels or hospitality settings.
• Experience in luxury or international hotel environments is beneficial.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on cleanliness and hygiene.
• A positive mindset combined with responsibility and dedication.
• Good organizational and effective time management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as a cooperative team member in Housekeeping.
• Proactive in spotting cleaning, maintenance, and safety needs.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and chemical safety is an advantage.
• Deep commitment to service excellence and upholding hotel standards.
• Physically capable of meeting job demands including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating cleaning machinery during shifts.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
