Job description
About the Role
We invite expressions of interest from psychologists interested in joining APM New Zealand. We have roles within ACC services covering both assessment and treatment pathways. Positions include conducting mental injury and neuropsychological assessments (MICPI, WRMI) as well as delivering evidence-based treatments across ACC Psychological Services, Pain Management, Concussion, and Training for Independence (TI).
Roles can be either full-time or part-time based in Queenstown or Dunedin.
Key Responsibilities
For treatment positions, psychologists are expected to apply evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed care, with a focus on functional rehabilitation and outcome-oriented treatment. Treatment-only roles do not include mental injury assessments.
For assessment roles, psychologists need to be eligible to perform mental injury assessments (MICPI/WRMI) or neuropsychological assessments under ACC contracts. Candidates should be registered with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC), demonstrate proficiency in independent psychological assessments including diagnosis, causation, functional impact evaluation, and ACC-compliant reporting. Neuropsychological positions require postgraduate training in neuropsychology, strong expertise in validity testing, and report writing. Assessment-only roles do not involve treatment delivery.
General, counselling, clinical, and neuropsychologists at APM manage reasonable caseloads, work across various contracts including Sensitive Claims and Psychological Services, provide evidence-based talking therapies, prepare high-quality clinical assessments and reports, and collaborate within multidisciplinary treatment teams.
