Job description
About Unbound Minds
Founded by Monica and Justin, Unbound Minds was created out of the desire to build a workplace that truly values work-life balance, unlike previous experiences in the industry. Their practice focuses on flexibility, transparency, and supportive work culture tailored for psychologists.
Work Environment and Schedule
- Flexible scheduling that suits your lifestyle: work between two to five days per week, with recruitment ongoing to find the right fit.
- Respect for your time: If a client cancels, you are free to leave rather than waiting around. Remote work is possible for part of your week when appropriate.
- Face-to-face therapy sessions are conducted in-clinic, but overall your time is your own.
- Pay structure ranges from $130,000 to $160,000 annually depending on registration level and experience, with transparent pay bands and annual guaranteed reviews.
- Additional billable activities such as reports, extended calls, and case conferences are compensated.
Daily Responsibilities
- Conduct 50-minute client sessions with note-taking integrated into the schedule.
- Daily allocation of 90 minutes of protected administrative time.
- Utilize AI-assisted note-taking (with client consent) to reduce after-hours work.
- Collaborate with a dedicated and experienced administrative team handling bookings, billing, and scheduling to minimize paperwork.
- Manage caseloads tailored to your clinical interests such as anxiety, school refusal, trauma, and parent work.
- Participate in meaningful supervision, including monthly group sessions and one-on-one meetings.
Professional Development and Benefits
- Clear career progression from Registered/Clinical Psychologist roles to senior positions.
- Receive a $1,000 professional development allowance and up to $1,000 wellness allowance annually.
- Early access to long-service leave after three years of service instead of the typical ten years.
- Salary packaging options available to optimize compensation.
Team Culture and Support
- Workload is carefully monitored and adjusted to prevent burnout; new hires are made if team capacity tightens.
- Caseloads come from established referral networks, eliminating the need to build a client base independently.
- Strong peer support culture with colleagues available to debrief and collaborate on challenging cases.
Recognitions
- Finalist for Allied Health Team Culture Excellence at the Australian Allied Health Awards 2026.
- Great Place To Work® Best Workplaces™ in Australia 2025 (Micro category).
- Great Place To Work® Best Workplaces™ in Healthcare & Social Assistance 2024 (Micro & Small category).
- Finalist for Outstanding Health Improvement Services at Camden Local Business Awards 2024 and 2026, and Penrith City Local Business Awards 2026.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal applicant is a psychologist registered with AHPRA who is capable of providing thoughtful and clinically sound care. The role requires confidence in working with children and comfort interacting with parents. Candidates with two or more years of experience are preferred, though motivated applicants with less experience are encouraged to apply. Traits such as empathy, sound judgment, and genuine care for clients are valued above a perfect curriculum vitae.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply directly. For inquiries before applying, email careers@unboundminds.com.au, where they will receive a personal response from the team founders.
