Psychiatrist

Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Psychiatrist to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand, delivering expert mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing patient care. This permanent full-time role is based onsite and involves collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to support individuals facing complex mental health challenges with compassionate, patient-centred care.

Key Duties

• Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental state exams, risk assessments, and clinical formulation development.
• Create and carry out individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each patient.
• Provide comprehensive treatment encompassing pharmacological, psychological, and psychosocial strategies for various mental health disorders.
• Manage a patient caseload in inpatient, outpatient, and/or community mental health settings, adapting to service requirements.
• Engage actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to facilitate collaborative care planning.
• Offer clinical leadership and guidance to junior medical personnel, including registrars and other healthcare practitioners.
• Coordinate with primary care, NGOs, community agencies, and other relevant services to ensure seamless, continuous care.
• Work respectfully and culturally responsively alongside patients and their families, focusing on recovery-oriented approaches.
• Participate in quality improvement activities such as clinical audits and service development initiatives.
• Maintain adherence to professional, ethical, and legal requirements as stipulated by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Commit to ongoing professional development, supervision, and appraisal activities.
• Contribute to fostering a safe, supportive, and efficient clinical environment.
• Promote best practices in patient safety, risk mitigation, and clinical judgment throughout all duties.

Compensation and Contract

The role offers a competitive salary range from NZD 250,000 to 350,000 or higher annually. This is a permanent position based in New Zealand.
