Job Overview
Join the property management team as a Property Porter, where you will play a vital role in keeping the multifamily property clean, safe, and visually appealing. This role involves a variety of essential maintenance and cleaning tasks aimed at ensuring common areas, grounds, and facilities are well-kept for residents, tenants, and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily cleaning of common spaces such as lobbies, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and outdoor areas, ensuring they are clear of trash and debris.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Empty waste bins and properly dispose of all trash, adhering to recycling and disposal guidelines.
- Clean and disinfect public restrooms, restocking necessary supplies like soap and paper products.
- Keep parking lots, sidewalks, and entry points clean and safe, including snow and ice removal during bad weather.
- Perform minor maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, completing small repairs, and performing touch-up painting to uphold the property’s appearance and function.
- Assist with arranging and dismantling furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and resident moves.
- Inspect property assets to identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, or damages to management promptly.
- Support landscaping tasks including watering plants, trimming shrubs, and caring for flower beds to boost curb appeal.
- Help residents and tenants move furniture, packages, or belongings as required.
- Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment to prevent accidents.
- Maintain and track inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, alerting management when restocking is necessary.
- Provide general assistance to property management and maintenance teams as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Preferably 2 years of experience in janitorial, custodial, or property maintenance roles.
- Understanding of cleaning methods, equipment usage, and safety standards.
- Physical capability to handle tasks requiring lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate well within a team environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Compensation and Work Details
