Job description

About Synextra

Synextra is a uniquely positioned Managed Service Provider (MSP) distinguished by its veteran-led expertise and innovative approach within the UK technology sector. Over a decade, the company has cultivated a compact yet impactful team, inspired by a client-centric technical leadership philosophy.

Role Overview

We seek a skilled Project Manager to independently steer and execute a variety of projects in our managed services landscape. This includes projects involving cloud migrations to Microsoft Azure, enterprise connectivity, AI initiatives, and data transformation efforts. The role requires complete ownership from project initiation to closure, converting High-Level Designs into detailed, governed delivery plans that satisfy client expectations and align with Synextra's capacity and risk tolerance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery within the MSP portfolio, ensuring effective coordination and timely completion.
  • Translate client briefs and High-Level Designs into actionable, clear project plans, collaborating with technical teams.
  • Govern projects through rigorous management of plans, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies (RAID), change control, and progress reporting, maintaining strict controls on scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives; adapt Scrum and Kanban methodologies as necessary.
  • Develop and sustain management dashboards that provide up-to-date visibility for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, clients, and external vendors, ensuring alignment and swift resolution of queries.
  • Manage seamless operational handovers to Managed Services by overseeing documentation, training, and transition activities.
  • Communicate project status, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and board members, influencing decision-making.
  • Oversee time tracking, forecasting, and resource utilization, offering guidance and training to team members on reporting accuracy.
  • Document lessons learned to foster continuous refinement of delivery and governance processes.

Experience and Skills

  • Strong organisational aptitude with an ability to independently manage workload in dynamic conditions.
  • Analytical thinker with keen attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on approach to tasks alongside delegating responsibilities.
  • Proven success managing complete IT/technology projects, preferably within MSP or managed services firms.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Azure cloud migrations, connectivity solutions, and data protection initiatives.
  • Expertise in project governance including comprehensive knowledge of plans, RAID logs, change control, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Experienced facilitator of Agile ceremonies, comfortable with Agile and hybrid project management frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and influence skills, able to engage at C-level and director tiers whilst guiding teams through delivery stages.
  • Familiarity with regulated sector operations (legal, financial, professional services) and compliance with relevant data protection standards.
  • Preferred qualifications include Prince2 or equivalent project management certification.

Culture and Support

At Synextra, you join an empowering setting where your input directly impacts success. Leadership is committed to your personal and professional growth, fostering a culture that combines technical rigor with commercial insight and promotes continuous learning and teamwork.
