Job description

Position Overview

At CGI, our Project Managers are responsible for guiding complex transformation initiatives into tangible, measurable successes. This role involves leading high-impact IT projects for a major energy client, integrating ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, as well as Operations/HSE and Digital & Analytics, within a multifaceted multi-vendor landscape. You will have the authority to shape project delivery, apply innovative problem-solving approaches, and facilitate the safe introduction of production-ready changes within a tightly regulated environment.

Working closely with both CGI and client experts, you'll combine strict governance with Agile practices as suitable, leveraging CGI’s established frameworks, global delivery capabilities, and deep domain expertise. This position offers a chance to significantly impact critical transformation efforts, strengthen client results, and develop your career in a supportive community dedicated to your success.

This hybrid role is based in Aberdeen, requiring regular onsite attendance typically three days a week to foster effective collaboration between CGI and client teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership for planning and delivering complex IT integration and transformation projects, ensuring structured governance and sufficient momentum to meet objectives.
  • Operate within client PMO methodologies and stage-gate frameworks to manage multi-disciplinary teams across ERP, Operations/HSE, infrastructure, and Digital & Analytics, while maintaining clear oversight of scope, budgets, risks, and interdependencies.
  • Build and nurture trusted relationships among business and IT stakeholders to encourage open idea exchange, problem resolution, and informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate multiple vendors and suppliers, guaranteeing that alterations to production and safety-critical systems occur safely and effectively.
  • Oversee project plans, budgets, risk/issue controls, reporting, and governance spanning several workstreams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, clarifying scope, responsibilities, dependencies, and handovers.
  • Manage risks and vendor relationships proactively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive engagement with senior stakeholders to align expectations and facilitate constructive decision-making processes.
  • Plan and lead cutover, go-live, and hypercare stages with well-defined runbooks to ensure smooth transition into business-as-usual operations.
  • Apply CGI’s delivery methodologies, analyze project metrics, capture lessons learned, and explore innovative approaches for improving overall delivery effectiveness.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possess a PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certification.
  • Demonstrate significant experience delivering medium to large-scale IT projects, focusing on integration, migration, or transformation, within energy, utilities, or other complex sectors.
  • Strong capabilities in project governance, including stage-gate processes, RAID management, and comprehensive reporting.
  • Proficient in commercial management techniques such as budget oversight, financial tracking, and managing third-party vendors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage and influence senior business and IT personnel effectively.
  • Experienced in coordinating multi-vendor deliveries, managing multiple technical teams and dependencies.
  • Preferably have domain experience in Oil & Gas or broader energy industries.
  • Relevant functional project management experience, such as SAP/ERP or infrastructure and information management delivery.
  • Additional desirable certifications include ITIL Foundation and Agile/Scrum training.
