Project Manager - Data Engineering

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager specializing in Data Engineering and Data Platform initiatives to lead comprehensive data projects. The role is based in Hyderabad and requires immediate availability to work the US shift from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM IST. Candidates should bring extensive experience in managing technical projects and collaborating across diverse technical and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee full lifecycle management of Data Engineering and Data Platform projects, from initial planning stages through successful deployment.
• Handle project scope definition, schedule timelines, work breakdown structure (WBS), estimations, and resource allocation.
• Identify and manage risks and dependencies to ensure smooth project execution.
• Collaborate closely with architects, data engineers, subject matter experts, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align objectives.
• Lead Agile and Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, progress tracking, and delivery monitoring.
• Continuously monitor project status, address issues proactively, and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders.
• Coordinate quality assurance, testing, release management, deployment activities, ensuring adherence to expected standards and deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 10 to 12 years of overall IT sector experience, with a strong focus on Technical Project Management.
• Proven expertise in managing Data Engineering, Data Platform, or Data Integration projects.
• Demonstrated successful delivery of projects through Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Proficient in project estimation, creating and managing WBS, resource scheduling, risk mitigation, and handling project dependencies.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), API concepts, ETL and data pipeline architectures, and backend systems.
• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, status reporting, and team coordination.
• Practical use of project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and Microsoft Project.
• Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps environments and practices.

Preferred Credentials

• Certifications such as PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or SAFe are advantageous.
• Experience with API development and integration projects.
• Track record of working effectively with distributed/global teams and engaging with US-based stakeholders.
