Project Cost Controller

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Cost Controller with a strong background in managing financial aspects of IT and technology projects. This role involves overseeing budgets, costs, contracts, and financial risks to ensure projects meet their financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and constantly monitor budgets for IT projects, ensuring actual expenditures align with approved budgets.
• Analyze budget variances and recommend necessary corrections to maintain financial performance.
• Develop cost estimation models and prepare financial forecasts including cash flow projections for projects.
• Manage contracts and vendor costs by reviewing financial terms, verifying invoices, and monitoring purchase orders and change requests.
• Provide ongoing financial support to Project Managers and participate in project governance to report on financial status.
• Implement Earned Value Management techniques to track Planned Value, Earned Value, Actual Cost, and performance indices.
• Generate periodic financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs highlighting budget vs. actuals, cost variances, and risks.
• Identify financial risks impacting projects and develop mitigation strategies while managing contingency reserves.
• Oversee cost control for various IT projects such as ERP implementations, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, telecommunications, and AI/data analytics.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, MIS, Computer Engineering, or IT.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control or cost management within technology or IT projects.
• Preferred experience of at least 3 years with large-scale IT projects and working in PMO environments.
• Familiarity with IT project contract and claims management is highly desirable.

• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Technical Skills

• Proficient in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and cost analysis.
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
• Knowledgeable in contract and claims management as well as financial risk management.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with Oracle ERP and Power BI tools.
