About the Role
MINPROVISE is looking for a seasoned Project Cost Controller to bolster our Projects and Remediation teams across Western Australia. This pivotal role supports both divisions by delivering precise cost management, forecasting, comprehensive reporting, and commercial guidance over a varied project portfolio. Located at our Welshpool head office, this position collaborates closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure projects maintain strong financial oversight and efficient cost control throughout their durations.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and updating budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost reports across numerous projects.
- Accurately inputting project budgets into ERP and cost management systems.
- Monitoring expenditures, commitments, accruals, and forecasted financial metrics.
- Evaluating project financial performance by analyzing budget variances, trends, and potential risks.
- Generating monthly cost reports and comprehensive performance summaries.
- Assisting Project Managers with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning tasks.
- Supporting variation management, cost recovery, and implementing change controls.
- Providing actionable recommendations to improve project financial outcomes.
- Maintaining thorough and current financial records for all projects.
- Ensuring proper capture, allocation, and reporting of project costs.
- Coordinating with Finance, Procurement, and Project Delivery teams to align business objectives.
- Communicating financial status, risks, and forecast adjustments promptly to stakeholders.
- Driving continuous improvements in project control processes and financial governance.
- Assisting with client progress claims, invoicing, and related financial documentation.
- Maintaining contract values, approved budgets, and tracking client variations with their financial impacts.
- Reconciling project revenues, costs, and claims accurately.
- Reviewing purchase requisitions and orders to ensure proper project cost allocation.
- Monitoring outstanding commitments and identifying potential cost exposures.
- Verifying both internal and external costs for accuracy and correct allocation.
- Supporting timekeeping systems and labor hour monitoring relative to budgets.
- Assisting final reconciliation of costs and revenues, resolving outstanding financial issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in roles such as Project Cost Controller, Project Controls, or Cost Engineer.
- Background in EPCM, engineering, construction, mining, infrastructure, or major projects sectors.
- Strong proficiency in project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting methodologies.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with project cost management systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and commercial judgment capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement aptitude.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and capable of managing competing deadlines effectively.
- Desirable tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Engineering, Project Management, or related fields.
