Job description
About Us
Datacom combines expertise, technology, and skilled professionals to enable organizations to thrive amidst rapid change. As a leading technology provider in Australasia, we partner with a broad spectrum of clients—from governments to enterprises and growing businesses—delivering valuable, real-world solutions and meaningful results.
Role Overview
In this senior leadership position within Datacom's delivery leadership team, the Programme Director serves as the sole accountable leader for one of our most complex and high-value enterprise programmes. You will own the programme in its entirety—setting its vision, steering delivery, and ensuring scalable outcomes. Unlike shared leadership models, you will hold full strategic, commercial, and delivery responsibility.
You will blend strategic insight, technology leadership, commercial rigor, and operational excellence to unify multiple workstreams. Confidently engaging at the executive level, you will report directly to senior leadership, influence decision-making, and provide precise, data-driven guidance to align the programme with organizational priorities.
Your leadership will establish direction, pace, and rhythm, transforming ambitious goals into clear execution, simplifying complexity, and delivering lasting value.
Key Responsibilities
- Define programme goals aligned with organizational targets and develop comprehensive roadmaps.
- Lead programme planning, governance structures, and delivery oversight to ensure quality results.
- Manage complex, multi-platform technical delivery environments, including coordination of project teams and engagement with senior stakeholders.
- Control programme schedules, budgets, risks, and resources to meet contractual and commercial commitments.
- Facilitate organizational change initiatives to realize anticipated business benefits.
- Mentor and guide Programme Managers managing multiple workstreams toward success.
- Drive stakeholder communications, reporting, and decision-making via transparent metrics and documentation.
- Support pre-sales efforts, bid preparation, and continual improvement of future programme strategies.
- Ensure ongoing alignment of programmes with Datacom's strategic objectives, risk management frameworks, and delivery standards.
Candidate Profile
- At least 15 years' experience in Programme Management within dynamic and varied IT service settings.
- Over 10 years leading complex programmes using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Proven success managing large-scale programmes involving multi-vendor environments, handling delivery dependencies, commercial relationships, governance, and cross-partner outcomes.
- Strong competency in commercial, financial, and contractual governance of delivery.
- Expertise in risk management, senior stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at Executive and C-level.
- High proficiency with project and programme management tools.
- Relevant programme management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMI, MSP, PgMP, PMP, or equivalents.
- Agile methodology certification like PSM1, CSM, SAFe, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Project Director (CPD) or comparable qualification.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, IT, or related fields.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean, and facilitation certifications.
- Experience reflecting Datacom's core values to foster growth and deliver success.
