Program Worker

Position Overview

This full-time maternity leave replacement role based in Hobart until February 2027 provides an opportunity to contribute significantly to community wellbeing through mental health and disability services with a nationally recognised organisation.

About the Role

As a Program Worker, you will support participants in their recovery journey by designing and regularly updating personalized recovery plans focused on skill and knowledge enhancement. You will offer direct, practical support to help participants achieve social inclusion and encourage them to engage with Wellways' extensive services to meet their individual goals. Assisting participants in planning their departure from the program and establishing durable support networks is an essential part of your contribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop individualized recovery plans in collaboration with participants, monitored and updated regularly.
• Provide direct support aimed at fostering social inclusion and skill development.
• Encourage and facilitate participants’ engagement with Wellways’ services.
• Assist participants in devising and planning transitions from the program to sustainable support frameworks.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess tertiary qualifications in social sciences or a closely related field.
• Have prior experience within mental health sectors or community-based organizations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including report writing capabilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Hold a current, valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel as required.
• Provide a current Working with Children Check and satisfactory National Police Records Check.
• Have the legal right to work in Australia.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay rate between $46.70 and $50.25 (SCHADS Level 4B).
• Leave loading at 17.5% during annual leave.
