The University of Bristol is inviting applications for the position of Professor of Cyber Security within its renowned Bristol Cyber Security Group (BCSG) based in the School of Computer Science. BCSG represents one of the largest and most impactful cyber security research collectives in the UK, encompassing diverse areas such as cyber-physical systems, software security, usable security and privacy, as well as cybercrime and online harms. The group excels in securing significant research funding, shaping policy, and producing interdisciplinary research with real-world relevance through collaborations with industry, government, and international partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive high-caliber research that aligns with BCSG's focus areas, achieving international recognition.
• Formulate an ambitious research agenda and attract substantial external funding.
• Establish and manage high-performing research teams and foster collaborative partnerships.
• Contribute strategically to the growth and prominence of cyber security research within the School and University.
• Deliver innovative undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Supervise and mentor doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty colleagues.
• Champion an inclusive and vibrant academic environment encouraging collaboration and intellectual exchange.

Candidate Requirements

• Internationally acknowledged research excellence in a cyber security area complementary to BCSG's portfolio.
• A strong history of publishing in top-tier conferences and peer-reviewed journals or equivalent industrial research leadership.
• A sustained record of securing external research grants and leading prominent research programs.
• Experience in teaching and supervising at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Proven capabilities in leading and growing research domains, teams, or communities.
• Dedication to interdisciplinary collaboration and generating academically and societally impactful research.

Additional Information

This position is full-time under an open-ended contract.
Grade: M - Professorial Range 1
Salary ranges between £74,828 and £77,537 per annum.
