Role Overview
Based in Wacol, Brisbane QLD, the Production Support Technician is responsible for managing chemical manufacturing processes within automated reactor systems. This role involves ensuring efficient and safe operation of plant equipment, performing quality control, and maintaining safety compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Operate the plant on a daily basis and monitor systems.
- Manage and authorize safe work permits including General, Hot Work, and Confined Space permits.
- Conduct minor maintenance, equipment fault diagnosis, and basic servicing tasks.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly regarding hot work and confined space entry.
- Support basic trade-related activities to reduce plant downtime.
- Control and supervise automated reactors from the control room.
- Load reagents into reactors utilizing pumps and access points.
- Maintain efficient functionality of pumps, mixers, reactors, dispersers, and filtration equipment.
- Operate filtration and packing machines to finalize products.
- Accurately complete batch records, logs, and checklists.
- Follow operational procedures and enforce safety standards on-site.
- Perform quality control testing of finished products.
- Work independently to manage chemical manufacturing processes within advanced automated reactor systems.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Valid forklift license.
- Previous experience as a plant operator or in production/process environments.
- Familiarity with Work Permit Systems including Hot Work and Confined Space entry permits.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
- Excellent capability in risk assessment and attention to safety measures.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and reasonable overtime.
- Strong housekeeping practices focused on quality and system adherence.
- Proactive attitude with high initiative.
- Physical capacity to handle manual work including lifting up to 20 kilograms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the chemical industry or related sectors.
- Knowledge or certification related to dangerous goods handling and hazardous material storage.
- Relevant mechanical or electrical trade certifications (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Boilermaker) are highly regarded.
- Current or willing to obtain certifications for Confined Space Entry and Gas Test Atmospheres.
Educational Requirements
Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required.
