Job description
Role Overview
The Product Owner will oversee daily delivery activities for a specific digital product stream, managing backlogs and sprint cycles to ensure smooth development and timely releases aligned with the product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day progress of an assigned digital product stream.
- Maintain and prioritize product backlog and sprint plans with clear, detailed user stories and designs.
- Translate the Product Manager's roadmap and vision into concrete backlog items.
- Facilitate sprint execution by clarifying requirements to development teams.
- Encourage innovative and creative problem-solving within the team.
- Align feature releases with strategic roadmap milestones.
- Support Agile ceremonies including refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI teams to shape well-defined customer journeys.
- Validate product increments through user feedback to ensure value delivery.
- Monitor feature performance using data insights for continuous improvement.
- Track sprint-level KPIs such as velocity, story completions, and defect rates.
- Provide strategic feedback from delivery teams to influence product planning.
- Ensure all backlog items and related documentation are accessible and current.
- Create instructional materials and training documentation for cross-functional teams.
- Manage release planning and communicate updates effectively to stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve blockers to maintain development momentum.
- Improve development processes to boost efficiency and reduce time to market.
- Facilitate collaboration and communication across business units, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Support training, adoption, and seamless handover of new releases to business teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related discipline (required).
- Scrum certification is a plus.
- Over four years experience as a Business Analyst or Product Owner, particularly in software projects and digital solutions.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, backlog management, and user story mapping.
- Experience with tactical product lifecycle execution via sprint planning.
- Familiarity with UX principles and defining acceptance criteria.
- Proficiency with relevant product management and Agile tools.
