Job description
About Scrapingdog
Scrapingdog is an established, self-funded web scraping API provider, trusted by over 1,000 developers and businesses. Our APIs span multiple platforms such as Google (Search, Maps, Shopping, News, AI Mode, Lens), Amazon, LinkedIn, TikTok, ChatGPT, among others. Having operated successfully for roughly ten years, we maintain a compact, profitable team where individual contributions significantly impact our product within a matter of weeks.
Role Overview
As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the direction of our product offerings: determining feature development, prioritizing improvements, and shaping the customer experience. Currently, these decisions are primarily made by the founder, but you will assume leadership over the product roadmap, pricing strategies, onboarding processes, and managing feedback between customers and engineering.
This position requires a technical mindset focused on concrete product performance metrics such as success rates, speed, and cost efficiency. It is not a role centered on just writing product specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the roadmap development for our API products, making informed decisions on what features to build, enhance, or deprecate.
- Establish and monitor critical product metrics including signup-to-paid conversion rates, user activation, retention, API success rates, response latency, and cost per request.
- Manage all aspects of pricing and packaging: creating plan structures, determining credit costs per API, and setting prices for new API endpoints.
- Enhance onboarding materials and documentation to enable developers to execute functional API calls within minutes.
- Engage regularly with customers and collaborate with Customer Success to transform user feedback and support tickets into actionable product improvements; keep abreast of competitors' product updates.
- Create clear, comprehensive product requirements and collaborate daily with engineering teams on task scoping, prioritization, and release planning.
- Coordinate launches for new APIs alongside Marketing and SEO teams, managing product positioning, documentation, changelogs, and announcements.
- Analyze API logs and usage data independently to detect failures and identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three years' experience in product management, preferably working with developer-focused products, APIs, or SaaS platforms.
- Technical proficiency to understand API logs, write fundamental SQL queries, perform API calls using tools such as cURL or Postman, and discuss architectural trade-offs with engineering teams.
- Experience in designing or managing usage-based or subscription pricing models.
- A data-informed mindset: hypothesize, implement tracking, and evaluate results rigorously.
- Strong written communication skills, crucial for creating documentation and internal communications.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, lightweight process environment, displaying ownership and initiative within a small team.
